Krueger Family Naturalization

This is the framed Certificate of Naturalization for my maternal grandfather, Myer Krueger.  It lists his wife Jeanette (who was born in the US) and their children, Fern, Marvin, and Shirley (my grandma). For many years it was hung in my grandmother's house in South Bend, Indiana.  Now it is in my home in Utica, Ohio.

The Helen Taylor

This is a scan of the photograph of the ship, "Helen Taylor" that is in the custody of my great uncle Bruce.  The boat was owned by my great grandfather, Edward Babe Morse and unfortunately was sunk in the Michigan City harbor in about 1932.  The people shown in the picture are believed to be Edward with his sons Frank, Art, and Ed.   It is unknown when the photograph might have been taken, but based on the ages of the sons it was likely very close to 1932.  Ed was born in 1918 and would have been 14 then.  I've not found any newspaper articles about the sinking yet, but it is on my "to do" list.

A wall hanging from Grandma's House

This wall hanging is roughly 12”x18” and is fabric with painting on it.  It is currently hanging in my mom’s house in my old bedroom.  I took a picture of it in 2012 when I stumbled upon it.  I used to look at it every time that I stayed at my Grandma Morse’s house.  She had it hanging in the bedroom I would stay in and I would read and reread it.  When I first started making custom family trees, this was the quote that I wanted to use in my designs.

Thanks for my service

This 6” wood plaque was given to me by The Engineer’s Club of Columbus for my service as Past President in 2011. The president was Steve Koch who presented it to me.  It is currently in my cube at work.

A gift of time

This clock was given to me by a friend and coworker, Julie Goodin, when I was at American Structurepoint in 2008. It is 6” tall and keeps excellent time.  It is currently in my cube at work.

My Lily Painting

Here I am with an oil painting that I did of a lily that I had photographed at my parents' house.  It is now in my house in Utica, Ohio. This was painted in 2007.

Custom made desk

This desk was made for me by my Grandpa Richard Uppstrom. I showed him some pictures of a desk that I liked at Crate and Barrel and he drew up the plans and made this desk for me.  I love it!  It was made of solid cherry and is roughly 5' long and 2' deep.  He gave it to me in 2007.

A Collaboration

This painting is 2’x3’ and is an oil on canvas.  It was painted by Ariel Uppstrom, Kaitlin Uppstrom, and me (Jennifer Alford) in 2007 as a Christmas present for our parents.  It is currently hung in the front hallway of their house in Ohio.

Stained Glass

This stained glass insert was made by my stepdad Kevin Uppstrom and given to me for my birthday in 2007.  It’s currently installed in the upstairs window of my home in Utica, Ohio.

Major Morgan

This is Major Morgan.  When you press the letters it plays musical tones and when I was a kid my stepdad and I used to play this game where we used to hide it from each other.  Then when the other person found the toy we would play it annoyingly at each other and then go ahead and hide it again.  It’s currently in my possession at my house in Utica, Ohio.
